A special purpose tool will likely be quicker to learn, quicker to use, have built in libraries and built in functions for common needs that can both expedite the process as well as making it easier to have a "complete" end result, and may have built in visualization tools to make things pretty. On just the CAD question, there is a tradeoff between general and special purpose software.
